A Warm Welcome to Kurt Hamblosa to Growth Psychotherapy

At Growth Psychotherapy, we believe that finding the right therapist is not just about credentials. It’s about fit, safety, and feeling understood. As our practice continues to grow, we’re intentional about expanding our team in ways that enhance the care we offer and better serve the diverse needs of our community.

We’re pleased to welcome Kurt, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), to the Growth Psychotherapy team.

Kurt brings a calm, thoughtful, and grounded approach to therapy, offering supportive care for individuals who may feel emotionally stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure where to begin. His presence strengthens our ability to support clients who are new to therapy or looking for focused, short-term support that feels manageable and clarifying.

A Thoughtful Entry Point into Therapy

Many people consider therapy during times of stress, transition, or emotional disconnection, but aren’t always sure what kind of support they need. Kurt works especially well with clients who are exploring therapy for the first time or who want a structured, supportive space to make sense of what’s happening internally. While Kurt is especially well-suited for clients seeking an accessible starting point, he also works with individuals who value a steady, reflective approach to longer-term growth.

His work is grounded in helping clients slow down, reflect, and better understand patterns that may be contributing to anxiety, low mood, identity concerns, or relational challenges. Sessions with Kurt are paced with care, prioritizing safety, clarity, and collaboration rather than pressure to β€œgo deep” before clients are ready.

Kurt’s Clinical Approach

Kurt’s approach to therapy is trauma-informed, attachment-focused, and person-centred. He integrates evidence-based modalities such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Solution-Focused strategies, tailoring each session to the client’s goals, needs, and readiness.

Clients often describe his style as grounding and clarifying, particularly during periods of overwhelm or uncertainty. Kurt values practical insight, emotional awareness, and steady progress, helping clients build understanding while also identifying meaningful steps forward.

Experience in Supportive, Short-Term Care

Kurt completed his clinical training in university mental health settings, where he provided walk-in and ongoing counselling within short-term and solution-focused models of care. His experience includes intake assessments, individual counselling, group-based support, and collaboration within multidisciplinary teams.

This background allows Kurt to work comfortably with clients navigating anxiety, stress, identity questions, and relational concerns, especially when time, energy, or emotional capacity feels limited.

Mental health support is offered virtually by Kurt, a Filipino-Canadian psychotherapist.

A Culturally Mindful and Relational Lens

As a second-generation Filipino-Canadian, Kurt brings cultural awareness and humility into his work, recognizing how family expectations, identity, and intergenerational experiences can shape emotional wellbeing. He approaches each client as an individual, with care and curiosity for how cultural and relational contexts influence their lived experience.

How Kurt Fits Within Growth Psychotherapy

Kurt’s addition to our team reflects our commitment to offering intentional therapist matching. While Growth Psychotherapy continues to provide specialized trauma-focused and depth-oriented care, Kurt’s role allows us to better support clients seeking an accessible, grounding entry point into therapy.

This thoughtful alignment helps ensure clients receive care that best matches their needs, whether they’re looking for focused support, clarity, or a place to begin.

Best Fit For

Kurt works especially well with individuals who are seeking clarity, grounding, and a supportive place to begin their therapeutic journey. His approach is well-suited for clients who:

  • Are new to therapy or feeling unsure where to start

  • Feel emotionally stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected, despite functioning in daily life

  • Are navigating anxiety, low mood, identity questions, or relational challenges

  • Want a calm, steady, and non-judgmental space to slow down and reflect

  • Are interested in gaining insight, practical tools, and a clearer understanding of their patterns

  • Are balancing cultural, family, or intergenerational expectations with their own needs and values

Kurt’s style is particularly supportive for clients who value collaboration, consistency, and gentle guidance as they work toward greater emotional awareness and self-understanding.
